Used Cisco 2600 Series Routers

The Cisco 2600 series routers are great for deployment at small, medium, and branch offices that have rackmount space.  Customers choose the 2600 series when they are establishing Internet access via Cable, DSL, and T1 line service or if they need to route traffic from one network to another.  These 2600 series routers offer different Cisco WIC card options depending on your need.  Choosing the right model for your need can seem a bit confusing if you're not familiar with the line.  The good news is that these models are very straight forward.

The CISCO2610 and CISCO2611 models have one and two 10BaseT ports respectively.  These are not 10/100 ports.  If you want 10/100 ports, then you want either a CISCO2620 (one 10/100 port) or a CISCO2621 (two 10/100 ports).  There are two more models, the 2650 and 2651.  These are just like the 2620 and 2621, except the processor is faster.  A person would choose the 2650 or 2651 if they we're going to option for Voice Over IP (VOIP).

Gernerally, a small office getting a T1 line would opt for a Cisco 2610 or a Cisco 2620 with a WIC-1DSU-T1.  If you want dual network ports, then you're looking at the 2611 or 2621 models (again with the WIC-1DSU-T1). 

If your office is establishing DSL or Cable Internet service then your best bet would be to purchase a Cisco 2611 or Cisco 2621 (remember the 2621 has dual 10/100 ports).  You could used the Internet service providers DSL or Cable modem and then connect it to one of the ethernet ports on the router.  One could do away with the Internet service providers DSL modem and opt for a WIC-1ADSL.  There is now WIC option to eliminate the need for a Cable modem.
